The Remote Work Guidelines [pdf] provide the University of New Mexico -Albuquerque and Branch campus communities – a set of principles, procedures for exceptions, and considerations for decision-makers regarding remote work for University of New Mexico (UNM) faculty members to ensure student success, create an environment of learning and creative discovery, and promote fair decision-making.

Establishing a Remote Work Agreement

For Faculty

New Hires

For newly hired faculty, departments can request approval for a remote work arrangement by attaching the MOA to the hiring request in UNMJobs. The Offer Details section of UNMJobs must also be completed to indicate the remote work request submitted for Provost approval.

For non-competitive hires, the MOA must be attached to the UNMJobs requisition. Approval of the remote work request will be considered alone with approval of the requested position.

For Existing Faculty

For existing faculty excluding Temporary Part-time (TPT), departments can request approval for a remote work arrangement by sending the MOA to OAP via faculty@unm.edu. If the remote work agreement is approved, OAP will return the approved MOA to the department and school/college/branch campus.

For TPT, departments can request approval for a remote work arrangement by sending the TPT LOU and MOA to OAP via faculty@unm.edu. If the remote work agreement is approved, OAP will process the TPT rehire ePAF will return the approved MOA to the department and school/college/branch campus. For TPT, the LOU and MOA must be submitted each time the TPT is rehired to work remotely. If the MOA remains unchanged each class assignment, the Continuation of the Remote Work Agreement section of the MOA can be completed and submitted to OAP via faculty@unm.edu for processing.

Ending a Remote Work Agreement

Departments are required to evaluate all approved remote work agreements annually, no later than March 31st of every year.

Remote Work Agreements are subject to modification or termination at any time based on operational or business needs.

For Faculty

Remote Work Termination MOA for Faculty [docx]

Submit the remote work termination MOA to OAP via faculty@unm.edu. If the termination is approved, OAP will return the approved MOA to the department and school/college/branch campus.
