Attend New Faculty Orientation
Each August and January, the Office of the Provost, in collaboration with ADVANCE at UNM, hosts New Faculty Orientation (NFO) to help arriving colleagues identify and make use of the many resources available to support their work, and to become familiar with UNM's policies and processes.
Faculty with start dates coinciding with the start of the Fall and Spring semesters will receive an emailed invitation from Academic Affairs to register for New Faculty Orientation.

Get your LoboCard
The LoboCard is the official UNM ID card carried by students, faculty, staff, and affiliates for access to university services, buildings with proxy access and more. Visit the LoboCard Office with your Government Issued ID to obtain your LoboCard.
Get a Parking Permit (If Applicable)
Once you receive your LoboCard, you will be eligible to purchase a parking permit from Parking and Transportation Services (PATS). Please call ahead to inquire about required documentation/identification.
Schedule an Appointment to Pick Up Keys
Your department (Dean, Director, or Chair with signature authority on file) must submit a Remote Key Request Form to the Lock Shop prior to scheduling an appointment for the key pick up. Your LoboCard will need to be presented upon pick up.
Review Benefits Plans
Eligible faculty have a 60-day enrollment period from the date of hire. For 9-month academic year faculty, the 60-day enrollment period begins on the first day of the month in which you were hired. For example, if you were hired on 8/14 your 90-day enrollment window begins on 8/1.

Review Retirement Election Plans
Eligible faculty have a 90-day window, from the date of hire, to elect to participate in a retirement plan. For 9-month academic year faculty, the 90-day election period begins the first day of the month in which you were hired. For example, if you were hired on 8/14 your 90-day enrollment window begins on 8/1.
Available benefits include:
- ARP: Alternative Plan Retirement
- ERB: Educational Retirement Board
- Voluntary: Voluntary Retirement Plans
